The Infoday "Secure Societies" & "Spanish Brokerage Event" was held at CDTI (Centre for Development of Industrial Technology) on Wednesday December 18th in relation to the Security theme of the next Horizon 2020. The event was attended by two participants of the European Commission: Paolo Salieri, from DG Enterprise and Gustav Kalbe, from DG Connect.
In the event PLOCAN presented its experience in European FP7 projects and its capabilities facing the Horizon 2020 within the "Secure Societies" program.
The public consortium Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands -PLOCAN- received this week the PLOCAN UNO boat that will be used to transport scientific equipment and passengers between the platform and its two nearest ports (La Luz and Las Palmas, and Taliarte). The boat will also be used in deployment and recovery maneuvers of scientific equipment for marine monitoring in the area as needed.
The fifth ordinary meeting of the TROPOS Project, based on the design of a multi-use offshore platform for deep waters, took place in Madrid (Spain) at the premises of the Polytechnic University of Madrid from 2nd to 4th December, 2013. This meeting, held under the coordination of PLOCAN, was attended by more than 40 researchers of the TROPOS Consortium from both the European Union and Taiwan, as well as 3 stakeholders coming from several companies and universities of the sector.
This innovative and competitive European Project has achieved its initial objective of the design of the components of oceanic platforms combining activity sectors such as transport, energy, aquaculture and leisure with the aim of strengthening and optimizing use of the maritime space following the strategic view of the concepts of “Blue Economy”launched by the European Commission. At the moment the integration of the components is being developed in order to present three viable platform models from a technical, economic and environmental point of view.
