PLOCAN convenes the XI edition of the Glider School between October 25th and 29th

The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN), on the path to the normalization of all its activities after the Covid-19 pandemic, convenes the XI edition of the Glider School, a reference training forum in marine glider technology, which will take place at the facilities of PLOCAN in Taliarte, from October 25th to 29th, 2021.

The Glider School is convened within the framework of the EUMarineRobots consortium. Didactical contents will cover both hardware and software issues through theoretical and practical dedicated sessions in class, lab and open waters using real ocean-glider units by different technologies (Waveglider, Sailbuoy, Slocum, Seaglider and Seaexplorer), and focusing on ocean-glider features, capabilities and applications.

This highly specialized training week represents a great opportunity for students and professionals worldwide to learn about the main commercial ocean-glider technologies.

The Glider School has the direct support of the main manufacturers of both gliders and sensors and the rest of the modules that make up these avant-garde unmanned marine observation platforms.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 731103.
