Norwegian company Tveter Power has started trials of a pumping device driven by wave power on the PLOCAN test site. This project is funded by Innovation Norway through Norwegian company RW Power A/S.
The Canary Island Blue Economy Group (BEG), set up in November 2017, has organised a day of meetings of the three operational study groups set up to analyse and discuss issues specifically related to Blue Growth and the contribution that this area of R+D+i is making to the Canary Islands RIS3.
Convened and co-ordinated by the Canary Island Research, Innovation and Information Society Agency (ACIISI, as it is known in Spanish) and PLOCAN, the meetings focused on three operational study groups: “Call for R+D+i grants to support the Blue Economy”; “Barriers to public and private R+D+i in the Canary Island Blue Economy”; and “Sustainability indicators for the contribution of the Blue Economy to the RIS3”.
Representatives of the different entities the comprise the Canary Island BEG took part in the meeting day: ACIISI, PLOCAN, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), the University of La Laguna (ULL), the Canary Island Institute of Technology (ITC in Spanish), the Marine Sciences Technology Centre (CETECIMA) and the Canary Island Maritime Cluster.
