Reunión Seaport

The Sustainable Energy at Seaports project SE@PORTS for studying the installation of Wave Energy Converters (WEC) at seaports, with the participation of the Las Palmas Port Authority and PLOCAN, met in early October at the central offices of the Institute of Environmental Hydraulics of the University of Cantabria (IHCantabria).

The third general assembly of partners of the European iFADO (Innovation in the Framework of the Atlantic Deep Ocean) Project, designed mainly to detect and cover the gaps in existing observation in the framework of the Atlantic Deep Ocean, was held in the head offices of PMBA (Pôle Mere Bretagne Atlantique) in the French city of Brest.

The 9th edition of PLOCAN’s Glider School brought together students from several countries with the six manufacturers of the available, operational submarine glider technologies, to remain as an international benchmark for high-level training on these autonomous, oceanic observation platforms. The nine editions raise the number of students enrolled to 130, from 26 countries of origin.

PLOCAN showed its test bed in the XII edition of Canagua&energía, International Water and Energy Fair of the Canary Islands, promoted by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria through the Island Energy Council and the Island Water Council, and organised by INFECAR. This focuses on isolated or independent environments, characterised mainly by the fact that they are not connected to the major, international power distribution grids.
