After 26 days of continuous mission this morning at 9:15 am has been picked up in waters Southwest of Gran Canaria (Mogan) an autonomous observing device called WaveGlider “Hermes”. A proper planning and coordination between the different companies and institutions involved (among others Liquid Robotics, Inc. (LRI), EMS and the Oceanic Platform of the Canary islands (PLOCAN) has allowed to conclude successfully the VULCANO mission.
The manager of PLOCAN, J. Joaquín Hernández Brito opened the II Environmental Education Networking in the Teacher Center (CEP) in Telde the last 4th June.
This meeting tries to be a teaching tool for the development of basic competences in the renewable energy and save energy fields, between others.
On Friday June 1st, Rocío Vega gave the talk entitled: "Project Management - Inititation to the Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Daptiv", part of the Continuous Training Plan of PLOCAN.
The European Maritime Day 2012 took place in Gothemburg (Sweden) on the 21st and 22nd of May 2012 (http://www.emd2012.se/), focusing this year into “sustainable growth from oceans, seas and coasts: blue growth”.
A representative of PLOCAN - Marimar Villagarcía- participated in this conference, and gave an oral presentation related to the MaReS project on the 22nd of May –stakeholders day-. She was invited as a speaker during the session entitled “Marine and maritime innovation in the outermost regions: blue growth and smart specialisation”, organised by the Conference of Presidents of the Outermost Regions (ORs).
